Sightlok RF-1 Gen 3 Progress Report and Estimated Release Date
June 29, 2025
We now estimate that the Sightlok RF-1 Gen 3 model will be shipping in about 6 weeks, early August 2025.
Sincere thanks to those of you who have been patiently awaiting this release. We’re doing our utmost to expedite production.
What’s done:
1. Design of the RF-1 mount
2. Design of 2 different width picatinny to 17S male (QD clamp attachment)
3. Procurement of the necessary accessories and parts
What’s left to do:
1. Finishing CAD work on a protective hood
2. Sending CAD files to the factory for the prototype production run
3. Testing the prototypes
4. Full production
Design goals achieved:
So far we have achieved every design goal for the Gen 3 mount, including:
– reducing main clamp weight by 30%
– adding M-LOK mounting compatibility in 2 different ways, specifically:
Any M-LOK accessory such as picatinny rails can now be mounted to the RF-1 itself
Further, the RF-1 can now be QD mounted to any M-LOK rail, such as a typical M-LOK AR handguard.
– enabling the ability to mount a visible laser via picatinny rail to the RF-1 and co-witness the visible laser with the rangefinder
– Mechanical thread locking on elevation / windage
– adding QD mounting compatibility with vertical picatinny rails such as those found on Spuhr and American Rifle Company (ARC) M-BRACE Scope Rings & Mounts
– enabling standard tripod 1/4″-20 screw mount
– adding 17S standard mounting compatibility, which will allow Arca-Swiss / Dovetail / RRS SOAR and vertical picatinny mount options, compatibility with various QD clamps including:
RRS 17-S BTC-Pro Clamp
AREA419 ARCALOCK ARCA SWISS 17S CLAMP
Leofoto LSC-P A.R.M.S. 17S LSC-40P Picatinny Clamp
Magpul Quick Release for ARMS 17S
Magpul QR Rail Grabber 17S Style Adapter – RRS/ARCA/Picatinny
A.R.M.S.® #17®S Throw Lever® Mount
As noted above, we are also developing a hood which will protect the rangefinder from damage while mounted. This hood will be the final CAD task to be completed prior to production.
One of the most time-consuming processes associated with production is selection and procurement of the 65+ parts necessary for the mount. We could take shortcuts but quality would be compromised. We’re proud that we have not had a single return of any of our gen 2 mounts, nor have we had a single repair or RMA request.
We want to continue our perfect record and we’ll continue to work on producing a gen 3 mount that is functionally and mechanically sound.
Sincere thanks for your patience everyone!
We will continue to update with our progress.
